§ 02 — Become Fitness and trainer education
Fitness and trainer education is about training guidance and health in the fitness industry. You become a skilled worker who can help other people train safely and effectively and reach their goals — whether they are beginners or experienced. It's a trade for you who are passionate about movement and want to help others become stronger and healthier.
§What do you do in everyday life?
You instruct and guide members in training, compile training programs, and guide in good technique so people train safely. You conduct group training, motivate, and follow up on members' progress, and you participate in the day-to-day operations of the center – from receiving new members to keeping track of machines and equipment.
- 01You learn about the body, fitness, and healthy lifestyle.
- 02You become good at advising and motivating other people.
- 03You learn to create training programs tailored to each individual.
- 04You work actively and are rarely behind a desk.
- 05You get a trade where you can make a concrete difference to others' health.
- 06You enter a sector that grows with Danes' focus on exercise and health.
§How do you get started?
The education typically starts with a basic course at a vocational school, and then you enter an education agreement with a fitness center or similar workplace. As a student, you alternate between school and practice and receive pay during your education, while you gain experience with real members and classes.
§Way forward
With your education, you can work as a trainer and instructor in fitness centres and group training, and over time you can specialise as a personal trainer, become group leader or move towards management and centre operations. Many build on their education with courses and certifications or use the profession as a stepping stone to further education in health and sports.
“The best coach is judged not only on how strong they are themselves – but on how far they get others to reach.”
