Guidance, team training and customer contact
What makes people want to come
You can know all the anatomy in the world, but if you cannot communicate it, it does not help the member. Guidance, motivation, and contact are what make the difference between a member who drops out and one who stays.
§Good instruction
Explain simply, show the exercise and let the member try while you watch. Give few, clear corrections at a time – too many messages at once confuse. Praise what goes well and be specific about what needs adjustment.
- 01Briefly explain what and why.
- 02Show the movement clearly.
- 03Let the member perform it while you observe.
- 04Give one correction at a time and follow up.
§To lead a team
On a group, everyone must be able to keep up at their level. This requires you to be able to offer easier and harder variations of the same exercise, keep the pace, look around the entire room, and create a good atmosphere. A group that feels seen comes back.
§Motivation and retention
Most who stop do so not because of training but because of lack of motivation or unrealistic goals. Help the member with realistic sub-goals celebrate progress and ask questions. Personal contact is often more important for retention than the program itself.
