In electronics and low-voltage education, you work with the small currents that control the modern world: circuits, sensors, measuring instruments, and communication systems. You learn to build, install, troubleshoot, and repair electronics, and you become someone who understands what goes on inside the circuit board when an appliance needs to work.

§What do you do in everyday life?

You work with a soldering iron, multimeter and oscilloscope and find faults in circuits, or you install and service systems such as alarms, antennas, data networks and communications equipment. You read drawings and diagrams, measure your way to the problem and test that everything works before you hand it over.

  • 01You learn to read electrical diagrams and understand how circuits connect.
  • 02You learn to solder, assemble, and troubleshoot electronics systematically.
  • 03You learn to use measuring instruments like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • 04You learn about sensors, signals, and control.
  • 05You learn to install and service low-voltage systems.
  • 06You learn to work safely and document your work.

§How do you get started?

You start with a basic course and then find an apprenticeship in a company working with electronics or low voltage. You get apprentice wages, and the education alternates between school stays where you learn the theory and practice where you use it on real tasks.

§The way forward

With the journeyman's certificate you can work with service installation and repair of electronics in many industries — from industry and telecommunications to security and medico. If you want to go further you can study to become electronics technician automation technician or build on with a further technical education.

Behind Every Device that Just Works, Sits Someone Who Can Read the Signals Where Others Only See Wires.

  • 01Electronics technician (level 2).
  • 02Electronics development technician (level 3).
  • 03Biomedical engineer (level 3)
  • 04Radio and TV technician (stage 3)
