§Study guide: Electronics and weak current

The three basic sizes
- 01Voltage (volts): the 'pressure' that drives electricity.
- 02Current (ampere): how much electricity flows.
- 03Resistance (ohm): how much something slows down the current.

Signal types
- 01DC (direct current): flows the same way, e.g. from a battery.
- 02AC (alternating current): changes direction, e.g. wall outlet.
- 03Analog signal: slides smoothly, all intermediate values.
- 04Digital signal: two states (0/1) robust against noise.

Safety and quality
- 01Low voltage can be safe, but mains voltage is life-threatening — know the difference.
- 02Protect components against static (ESD): grounding strap, antistatic mat.
- 03Solder in good ventilation, turn off the iron after use.
- 04Measure your way through troubleshooting — do not change things blindly.
- 05Dispose of electronic waste and batteries correctly.
