§ 02 — Become Industrial technician training
Overview
As an industrial technician you manufacture precision parts in metal — components that must fit to hundredths of a millimetre. You programme and operate CNC machines that mill and turn workpieces for machinery production equipment and industry. You become a specialist who can translate a drawing into a finished perfect part.
What do you do in everyday life?
Your day is at a workshop at lathes and milling machines often CNC-controlled. You read technical drawings select tools and clamp items. You write or adjust programs run the machine and measure the result afterwards with fine instruments. When something does not fit you find the error and correct it until the part is completely accurate.

- 04You learn to measure and control with precision equipment.
- 05You learn about the properties and processing of metals.
- 06You learn to find and correct errors so the part becomes precise.
How do you get started?
You start with a basic course and find an apprenticeship in a metal or machinery company. The main course alternates between school and practical training and you get trainee wages along the way. In the workshop you get close to experienced technicians who teach you to get the machines to deliver precision.
The way forward
As fully trained you can work in machinery industry production companies and with suppliers. You can specialise in CNC programming quality control or particular machine types and build further towards for example production technologist or machine engineer.
