Event Coordinator

As an event coordinator you are the brains behind events that make people smile. You plan organise and run everything from conferences and trade fairs to concerts and company parties. The training makes you a skilled professional who can hold many threads in your hands at once and get it all to add up.

§What do you do in everyday life?

Your everyday life is rarely the same two days in a row. You book rooms coordinate suppliers and keep track of budget and schedule. You make agreements with customers ensure technology food and staffing are in place and are ready to solve problems when something does not go as planned. When the event itself takes place you are the one who keeps the overview behind the scenes.

§How do you get started?

You start with a basic course at a vocational school where you get to grips with the commercial foundation. You then find an apprenticeship with, for example, an event agency, an organisation or a company and enter into a training agreement. You alternate between school and practical training and get paid throughout the process.

§The way forward

As a skilled event coordinator you can work in event agencies cultural institutions marketing departments or start for yourself. With experience you can become a project manager or event manager and you can study further in for example experiential economics communication or marketing.
