§ 02 — Become Sign technician
As a sign technician you make signs facade cladding vehicle decoration and advertising that catch the eye. You unite design technology and craft and help give shops cars and buildings their expression. It is a creative trade where you work both on the computer and with your hands and where the result often hangs on display for all to see.
§What do you do in everyday life?
A typical day involves designing and preparing graphics on the computer printing on foil and sheets cutting out motifs and mounting the finished sign or vinyl wrap on facade car or window. You work with colors, dimensions and materials and ensure that the final result sits perfectly and holds.

§How do you get started?
You start with a basic course at a vocational school and then find an apprenticeship in a sign or advertising company. You get apprentice wages throughout the education and alternate between school stays and practice so you learn both the graphic and practical assembly work.
§The way forward
As a trained sign technician you can work in sign and advertising companies or start for yourself. You can specialise in for example car wrapping large façade projects or illuminated signs and build further with courses in design and production.
