Warehouse and terminal training

Warehouse and terminal training is about keeping track of the goods flow — receiving, storing, packing and sending goods so the right things end up in the right place at the right time. You become a key person in logistics, ensuring that warehouses and terminals run efficiently, and that goods flow smoothly through the chain.

§What do you do in everyday life?

You receive goods, check them, place them in the warehouse and retrieve them again when they are to be shipped. You pack, label and prepare consignments, often drive a forklift and use computer-based warehouse systems to keep track of the stock. Pace, overview and order are crucial, because many goods have to fit together at the same time.

§How do you get started?

The education alternates between school periods at a vocational school and practical work at a warehouse or terminal, where you learn the work processes in practice. During this time you obtain the necessary certificates, for example for truck operation. You can begin after primary school or come to the trade later in life.

§The way forward

With the trade in hand you can specialise within e.g. logistics purchasing or terminal operations. With experience you can become team leader or warehouse manager with responsibility for the entire goods flow — or build on with courses in logistics and management.
