§ 02 — Become Crane
The crane courses equip you to operate cranes safely and legally — from bridge cranes and gantry cranes indoors to mobile cranes in the open. You learn to assess load, rig correctly and work according to the safety requirements that apply when heavy lifting is involved. These are skills that are essential on construction sites, in industry and in ports, where large items need to be moved precisely and safely.

As a crane driver you lift and move heavy items where even small errors can have major consequences. You plan the lift assess the load secure it correctly and operate the crane with calm and precision. You work closely with colleagues who direct and help and you always have safety at the centre — your own your colleagues' and the expensive equipment's.

§How do you get started?
Crane is a comprehensive course area covering several levels. Crane basis introduces bridge cranes and gantry cranes, while mobile crane courses range from smaller to larger models. The courses are offered as AMU courses from approved providers and combine theory with practical operation. Which course you should choose depends on which type of crane and which work you are aiming for.
§Way forward
With crane certificates you can specialise in different crane types and build a career on building sites in industry in ports or with crane rental companies. Many combine cranes with truck and other lifting competencies and become versatile workers who can handle many different lifting tasks.
