The book for the apprentice
— who has school on Mondays and a job on Thursdays
Both halves of the week, without changing places.
Both halves of the week
School and the job on the same screen: hours on the job, the school's test next to the company's drive, and techniques and calculators with the formula behind every number.
Two halves, one week
Know the feeling that the two halves of your life don't talk to each other? School has one system and one deadline. The boss has a note, an app for hours and a message about where to turn up. You're the only one who has to keep track of both, and it's always one of them that gets forgotten.
Here they sit side by side: what you owe the school, and what you have to do on the job. You don't switch between two places — you scroll down.
What you can do here
Enter your hours on the job you're standing on, and see the month as a calendar with hours, kilometres driven and sick days. Look up the technique while you're holding it. Find your class, your tests and the company drive on the same surface as the jobs.
They're the same tools the journeyman uses — not a practice version. And the reference library works without logging in, so you can look things up while you're holding the job.
Both halves
Know the feeling of standing on site and suddenly remembering an assignment? Or sitting in school knowing you still have to log Thursday's hours? There's nothing wrong with your memory — it's that the two worlds are never on the same screen.
The apprentice overview is one page with homework, hours, calendar, jobs, messages and notifications as tiles. Several of them carry a number, so you can see whether something has happened without opening them.
At the top you can pick the job you're working on.

Hours on the job
Know the feeling of writing up the week on Sunday evening? You sit with a calendar trying to remember when you left the site on Tuesday. Something gets rounded, something gets forgotten, and the mileage disappears entirely.
Log hours has date, number of hours, hour type, job and note. The quick buttons 7 h, 7.5 h, 8 h and 10 h cover the normal day, and “Same as last time” brings up your latest entry.
Afterwards the month appears as a calendar grid with week numbers, hours, kilometres driven and sick and holiday days.

School and job
Know the feeling that neither system knows you have two bosses? The school portal doesn't know about the job, and the company app doesn't know about your test. So you end up with two logins, two calendars and a feeling that you're forgetting something.
School & job is the one surface where they sit in the same box: classes, my tests and the student page — next to equipment and the company drive.
If a test is coming up, you can open it from here without hunting for where the school put it.

Look it up
Know the feeling of standing in a basement with no signal and needing a number right now? You can ring the journeyman, guess, or go outside and hunt for a bar on your phone. None of it looks good in front of a customer.
Knowledge gathers techniques, videos, safety, articles, product ranges and the trade's vocabulary — and it works without logging in.
If you've had the page open before, it's stored on your phone and comes back — even without a single bar of signal.

The tools themselves
Know the feeling that the apprentice gets the practice version? A simplified calculator, a template without dimensions, and “you'll learn the real thing on a course later”. Then you're on the job with a tool that can't do what you need.
The Tools gateway is the same one the journeyman has: calculators, templates, sheet-metal development, the 3D workshop, universal tools and quizzes.
If you've picked a trade at the top, calculators, templates and quizzes point into exactly that trade.

Work it out
Know the feeling of the calculation turning into a rule of thumb? “We usually add ten percent.” It usually holds — and the time it doesn't, you're the one who cut the sheet.
The calculator hub gathers the calculators from the whole house with your own trade on top, and every calculator shows the formula and the source behind the number.
At the bottom the Development Library stands on its own: from tank, funnel or bent bracket to cutting pattern, bending list, parts list, shop drawing and DXF for the laser.
