As of January 1, 2026, a new gas regulation, BEK no. 1702/2025, applies, replacing the old BEK 253/2018. At the same time, the authority has been moved to the Danish Business Authority. Here are the rules on authorization, A/B certificates and what has actually been decided about gas phase-out.
Introduction
Gas installations are among the most safety-critical parts of the plumbing trade — errors can cost lives. Therefore, the work is strictly regulated: it requires an authorized company and the right certificates, and it is governed by a specific gas ordinance.
The authority has moved
As of January 2026 the Safety Authority has been merged into the Business Authority. Authorization and gas safety are administered from there. Older sources still mention the Safety Authority — the content of sik.dk guidelines remains valid but the current authority is the Business Authority.
Authorisation and Certificates
- 01VFUL — full plumbing authorization covering gas, water and sewage.
- 02A-certificate — gas appliances up to 135 kW.
- 03B Certificate — Process Installations/Equipment Over 135 kW; Also Requires GFSA Company Approval.
- 04Deviation from DS standard on a gas installation must be reported electronically to the authority.
