Drinking water, gas and drainage may only be carried out by authorised companies. The route goes via journeyman certificate, work experience and authorisation training — and every authorised company must have an approved quality management system (KLS). Here are the requirements and the documents you work with on site.
Introduction
Authorisation is the Quality Seal that Ensures that Those Working with Drinking Water, Gas and Sewerage Have Documented Professional Knowledge and a System that Catches Errors. The Requirement Follows from the Authorisation Act, and the Approval itself is Administered by the Danish Business Authority (from January 2026).
The education path.
The vocational foundation programme is the plumbing-and-energy programme: GF1 (20 weeks) → GF2 (20 weeks) → a main programme of 3–4.75 years as a sandwich programme, concluding with the journeyman's test and journeyman's certificate. Mandatory certificates are taken along the way: refrigeration, district-heating and heat-pump certificates.

The path to company authorisation
Sewer authorization is a separate track: sewer master exam at Technological Institute + KLS + application to the Business Authority. So you can be authorized for water and gas without being a sewer master — and vice versa.
