Clinic operations, documentation and patient contact
What makes the clinic run
A dental clinic is also a workplace with operations that need to flow smoothly. The dental clinic assistant often has a central role in making the day run: appointments, records, materials and patient contact.
§Time booking and planning
Making a good daily schedule requires overview: how long does a treatment take, when is there room for urgent patients, and how do you avoid gaps and overbookings. Good planning gives a calm day for both clinic and patients.
§Record keeping and the pre-hospital patient record (PPJ)
- 01Note treatments and agreements correctly in the patient's journal.
- 02Treat personal information confidentially and according to the clinic's guidelines.
- 03Before documentation on hygiene and sterilization as part of self-monitoring.
§Warehouse and materials
The clinic should never run out of the important. Keeping track of inventory, ordering on time and checking expiration on materials is a typical assistant task that prevents costly stops in the middle of a treatment day.
§Patient contact
At the phone and reception you are the clinic's voice and face. A friendly clear and reassuring contact means a lot to patients who are often a bit nervous about the dentist. Good communication — also about cancellations and prices — builds trust.
