A training agreement is an employment with special rules. Here are the probationary period, the rules for cancellation, the school's deadlines, the AUB reimbursement to the company and the ways you can complain as a student.
Introduction
The training agreement is the agreement between you and the company about your training. It is an employment, but the VET Act has special rules that protect you as a student.
The probationary period: 3 months
The first 3 months of the training period are a probationary period. During the probationary period, both you and the company can terminate the agreement without giving a reason and without notice. School periods do not count towards the probationary period. If, for the reasons stated in the law, you are absent from the company for more than 1 month of the probationary period, it is extended accordingly.
After the probationary period
After the probationary period, the agreement cannot be terminated with notice. It can only be cancelled if one party materially breaches its obligations, or if an essential condition for the agreement turns out to be wrong or later fails. This must happen no later than 1 month after becoming aware of the matter. If the student cancels the agreement because of sexual harassment, the deadline can be disregarded.
The school and the paperwork
- 01The school normally replies no later than 4 weeks after it has received the agreement.
- 02The grades from the journeyman's test must be sent to the school no later than 6 weeks after the test.
What the company gets from AUB
When you are at school, the company receives wage reimbursement from the Employers' Education Contribution (AUB). This makes your school periods cheaper for the company:
| AUB wage reimbursement per school week | 2024 | 2025 | 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | DKK 3,110 | DKK 3,270 | DKK 3,400 |
| Year 2 | DKK 3,510 | DKK 3,600 | DKK 3,850 |
| 3. år | DKK 3,860 | DKK 3,940 | DKK 4,330 |
| Year 4 | DKK 4,460 | DKK 4,580 | DKK 5,010 |
| Adult student | — | DKK 5,650 | DKK 5,860 |
For school periods starting after 1 January 2026, the weekly wage is calculated on the basis of eIndkomst (the income register).
