Løn og ansættelsesvilkår under uddannelsen

Student wages, collective agreement and the path to skilled conditions.

One of the good things about vocational education is that you earn money along the way. When you're training at a company, you're employed and get apprentice wages. Here we look at how pay and conditions are linked — without promising you specific amounts, since the rates change and depend on the agreement.

§You are employed, not just a student

When you have an apprenticeship agreement and are in the training periods you are employed at the workplace. This means you have an employer fixed working hours and a wage – and you have the same basic rights as other employees e.g. in relation to working environment and holidays.

§Student wages that increase through the program

Student wages are typically structured so they increase the longer you are in the education. At the beginning it is lowest and for each step up through the program it increases because you become more experienced and can do more. That way the value you gradually add to the workplace is rewarded.

§The agreement sets the framework

Many conditions — wages working hours allowances pensions and notice — are agreed in a collective agreement between employers and employees in the field. The collective agreement is the shared set of rules that ensures conditions are similar from workplace to workplace. If you are in doubt about what applies to you a trade union can help interpret your specific situation.

What do the terms typically cover?

  • 01Løn under oplæring og under skoleophold.
  • 02Working time and rules for overtime and extra work.
  • 03Vacation and days off.
  • 04Pension and any supplements, e.g. for inconvenient working hours.
  • 05Rules in case of illness and when terminating the agreement.

§When you are trained

As a finished skilled forest and nature technician you move from apprentice wages to skilled wages which are higher. You are now a full-fledged professional and your conditions follow the agreements for skilled workers in your field. Many get employment where they were in training while others seek new — but a journeyman's certificate in hand strengthens your position regardless.

You invest your time, and in return you get both pay along the way and a skilled certificate that follows you the rest of your working life.
