The producer trade in industry today

Producers are part of Danish production across many industries. Wherever goods are manufactured in series on machines, there is a need for someone who can operate, monitor and keep production running. This makes the trade broad and gives you several ways to go with the same certificate.

§Where does a producer work?

You find producers in many types of businesses that have in common that they manufacture something in larger quantities. It can be metal, plastic, food, glass, or other materials that become finished products on machines and equipment.

§What the job involves in practice

The core task is to keep production running well: prepare the machine, start it, keep an eye on it to make sure it runs correctly, intervene when there are errors and check that products have the correct quality. Often there are also simple maintenance and warehouse and logistics tasks so materials and goods flow as they should.

§Automation changes work — but does not remove it

Modern production becomes increasingly automated and that changes what a producer does. Less routine manual work, more monitoring, troubleshooting and collaboration with automatic facilities and robots. It sets new demands but does not remove the need for people — someone still needs to keep watch, intervene and ensure quality.

Many use the manufacturer apprenticeship as a stepping stone further in industry rather than an end point.
