A working day at the office...
Coordination, communication and case management
A day in an office is rarely predictable. You plan one thing and get interrupted by something else. That's why overview and prioritization are among the most important skills you develop in the trade.
§Communication
En stor del af arbejdet er kommunikation — e-mails, telefon og personlig kontakt med borgere, kunder eller kolleger. Du er ofte virksomhedens ansigt udadtil, og en venlig, klar og korrekt kommunikation skaber et godt indtryk.
- 01Answer and prioritize emails
- 02Take calls and refer on
- 03Help citizens or customers with their inquiries
- 04Writing letters, minutes and summons
§Coordination and calendar
You keep track of calendars, book meetings, reserve rooms, and ensure that the right people are in the right place at the right time. It sounds simple, but when many people's time must add up, it requires oversight and thoughtfulness.
§Case handling
Depending on your specialty, you handle cases: in the public sector it can be applications from citizens, in the private sector invoices, orders or personnel matters. You follow fixed procedures, document and ensure that nothing falls between the cracks.
§The administrative kit
The rest of the day is spent on the many small things that make a workplace function: filing, ordering, follow-up and helping colleagues. It is often invisible work, but it is what makes it possible for everyone else to do their job.
A good office worker is known by things just working — because you have it under control before anyone even needs to ask.
