Build on top of your journeyman certificate
Becoming a skilled office worker opens many doors, but it is also a springboard. Vocational education is built so you can return to the classroom later and build on what you already know. Whether you want to specialise more deeply or move to a completely new role, there is a way forward.
The quickest path to new knowledge is short courses. These can be courses in specific finance or IT systems, spreadsheets, project management, communication or languages. Many take such courses alongside their job, often paid for by the employer, and they keep your skills sharp as the trade and technology develop.
If you want a more formal boost, you can take a part-time academy education while you work. There are academy educations in, among other things, management, economics and public administration. They are built as modules so you can take them at a pace that suits your working life and they give merit further up the system.
| Level | Examples of direction | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| Courses | IT systems, spreadsheets, languages | Short, often alongside your job |
| Academy education | Leadership, economics, public administration | Part-time, module-based |
| Business academy | Business economist, finance economist, logistics economist | Full-time, typically 2 years |
| Professional bachelor | Public administration, finance | Full-time, typically 3-4 years |
With the right background — often strengthened by eux or supplementary subjects — you can study further on a business academy education as an administrative economist finance economist or logistics economist. Want to go further professional bachelor degrees such as public administration or finance take you to a higher level with more responsibility and broader job opportunities.
The point is that your office training doesn't lock you in. It gives you a solid foundation of administrative experience — and from there you can build as high as you want.
“A journeyman's certificate is not a period but a comma: you can always build further when you are ready for the next step.”
