A working day in retail — sales, purchasing and customer service...

The tasks you encounter every day

As a trade apprentice you meet many different tasks depending on whether you work with sales purchasing or customer service. But some things are consistent regardless of where you sit: you create contact solve tasks and keep track of details.

§Customer service and sales

  • 02Advise based on customer needs
  • 03Lave tilbud og følge op på dem
  • 04Handle complaints professionally

§Order processing

When the customer has said yes, the order must be processed. You register it correctly, check inventory, secure price and delivery time, and ensure the goods are sent. A small typing error here can cost wrong goods, wrong price, or late delivery—so accuracy is critical.

§Procurement and suppliers

If you work with purchasing, you must ensure that the company brings home the right goods at the right price. You negotiate with suppliers, monitor inventory and order so you neither run out nor tie up too much money in inventory.

§Follow-up

The day rarely ends with everything being completed. You follow up on deliveries call customers back correct errors and prepare the next day. Keeping track of open cases and deadlines is a core skill in the trade.

The best advice to a newcomer in the trade: write down what you promise. A customer never forgets if you break an agreement — but always remembers if you keep it.
