§Study sheet: Glass, assembly and safety

Glass types

• 01Float glass — ordinary flat glass.
• 02Tempered glass — strong; crumbles into small pieces when broken.
• 03Laminated glass — film between layers; stays together when broken.
• 04Energy glass — coating that holds heat.

Good assembly

• 01The glass must never rest on a hard edge — use spacers.
• 02Give the window room to move.
• 03Sealing tight so water and moisture do not penetrate.

Safety

• 01Cut-resistant gloves and safety glasses always.
• 02Cordon off below you when working at height.
• 03Clear broken glass on an ongoing basis — also the small pieces.
