How you check that the machine is safe to use

Glazier apprenticeship is a vocational apprenticeship where you alternate between school and working in a company. You actually spend most of your time at a glazier company, where you learn the trade in practice — school periods are the shorter chunks where theory and exercises are consolidated.

If you come more or less directly from 9th or 10th grade, you start on basic course 1, which lasts about half a year. Here you sniff at the technical and construction area before you choose a direction. If you left school a long time ago, you can in many cases skip directly to basic course 2.

Basic course 2 lasts 16 weeks and is where you really start working with glass and glazier work. The basic course is completed with a test, and it is typically here that you find the apprenticeship that carries you forward.

When you have an apprenticeship agreement with a company you're underway with the main course. It's structured with several school periods where between each period you're back in the company using what you've learned. School periods are typically six weeks at a time and together school time in the main course totals about 30 weeks spread over several stays.

The full course takes around four years and two months to four years and eight months, depending on when you start and which way you enter. If you take the education as an adult (euv), the course may be shorter, because previous work experience and schooling can count.

To be admitted, you must have passed the primary school leaving examination and have at least 02 on average in both Danish and mathematics from 9th or 10th grade. If you don't meet the grade requirement, there are pathways via an entrance exam and an interview. You apply via optagelse.dk, and there are typically two annual start dates.
