Care recovery and when to stand up
Part of the hair trade is keeping hair and scalp healthy so it can bear the treatments the customer wants. Treatments are not just a sales product – they are a professional assessment of what this particular hair is missing.
Damaged hair typically lacks either moisture or strength. Dry brittle hair that breaks often needs moisture; limp over-extended hair that loses shape often needs protein/build-up. Being able to distinguish these two needs is the core of good treatment advice – the wrong product can make the problem worse.
Healthy hair starts at the scalp. Notice whether the scalp is dry, oily, irritated or flaky, and adjust product and treatment accordingly. The scalp is skin and deserves the same attention as facial skin.
If a customer is facing colouring, bleaching or perming, pre- or post-treatment can protect the hair and even out porosity so the result is more uniform. A treatment is therefore often part of a colour process, not a separate luxury.
A treatment in the salon lasts longer if the customer follows up at home with the right products and habits. Explain simply and concretely how the customer should care for their hair between visits – it is service that keeps the result and builds trust.
“The best treatment is the one that fits the hair's actual needs – not the most expensive on the shelf.”
