Systems and tools in the bank
Core banking system, online banking and credit models
You work almost exclusively digitally. It is crucial that you know the systems that tie the bank's operations together so you can quickly find information, register correctly and avoid mistakes that could cost the customer or bank dearly.
§The core banking system
The heart of a bank is the core banking system. It contains all accounts, postings, loans and customer information. Every time money moves, it is registered here. You use the system to see the customer's engagement, create accounts, post and make payments. Learn to navigate quickly, but never at the expense of accuracy.
§Customer overview and advisory tools
On top of the core system typically sits an advisor or CRM tool that brings together the customer's full picture: accounts loans savings insurance and previous meetings. This gives you an overview at a glance and helps you prepare good meetings.
- 01Engagement overview — everything the customer has with you
- 02Budget and spending calculators
- 03Templates for loan offers and agreements
- 04Note and activity log so colleagues can follow the case
§Online banking and mobile banking
The customers handle most things themselves in online banking and mobile banking. You need to know these channels from the inside, because customers call when something is wrong. If you can show the way in the app yourself, you save both the customer and yourself trouble — and you discover faster if something is wrong.
§Credit and risk models
The bank uses models to assess risk. A model might, for instance, indicate whether a customer has a high or low probability of defaulting on a loan. The model is a tool to aid judgment, not a judge: you must understand what the figure is based on and be able to supplement it with your own sound assessment.
Finally you must be familiar with digital signing document archives and the security rules that apply to logging in. Access to customer data is a privilege — treat it as such.
