§Study guide: Film and TV production

Production's three phases
- 01Pre-production: planning — script locations equipment shooting schedule and permissions.
- 02Recording: the team works together; lighting, camera and sound are set up and checked.
- 03Post-production: editing, sound, color, and graphics are assembled into one finished product.
The camera's basic settings
- 01Resolution: the number of image points.
- 02Frame rate: number of images per second.
- 03Aperture, shutter speed and ISO: together control light and sharpness.
Classical lighting setup

Sound in short form
- 01Record close to the source and in silence — sound can rarely be salvaged afterwards.
- 02Choose microphone based on the situation: boom, lavalier or ambient.
- 03Keep the level even so the sound is neither weak nor distorted.
Safety and rights
- 01Safety: before cables, secure equipment, respect electricity, heat and heights.
- 02Copyright: only use music, images and clips you are allowed to.
- 03People and places: have permits in place before you cut.
