How an infection spreads — and how you prevent it
Basic courses 1 and 2, main course, alternation between school and practice, duration and entry requirements
Event Coordinator is a vocational education within the main area of Office, Trade and Business Services. It's structured so you both learn the trade theoretically at school and get it under your skin in a company that plans and runs events. When you understand the parts, it's much easier to plan your own program—regardless of whether you come directly from lower secondary school or have a couple of years behind you.
§The basic course comes first
The education starts at school with a basic course that is divided in two. Basic course 1 is for you if you start shortly after 9th or 10th grade and is about getting oriented in a vocational education area and understanding the basic broad subjects. Basic course 2 is targeted at the event trade itself and prepares you for the main course. If you do not come straight from primary school, you typically start on basic course 2.
Each part of the basic course corresponds to about 20 weeks — that is, about half a year each. If you already have a secondary education such as stx, htx or hf, your basic course can be significantly shortened because you already have many of the general subjects.
§The main course alternates between school and company
After the basic course comes the main course. This is where you get instruction in school during school periods and learn the trade in practice at a training company during practical periods. It requires a training agreement — that is, a written agreement with a company that will train you. The main course ends with a practical exam where you show that you can run a real event course.

§How long does it take
The total education lasts 3 to 3 years and 11 months, but the length depends on your background and age. If you come straight from lower secondary school, you need to go through both basic courses 1 and 2 and then the main course. If you have a higher education, parts can be shortened and you finish faster. It's always worth checking with the individual school how your specific course is structured.
§Admission and access requirements
To enter you must in principle have completed 9th or 10th grade and have at least grade 02 on average in both Danish and mathematics from the leaving exam. If you don't meet the grade requirement you can come to an entrance exam and interview at the school. If you already have a training agreement with a company you meet the entry requirements that way.
To progress from basic course to main course you must have passed the basic course exam and meet the academic requirements that the school states. If you are over 25, you typically follow EUV — vocational education for adults — where your practical competence is assessed so previous education and experience can shorten the programme.
§Make a plan that suits you
Because the course can be put together differently, it is a good idea to talk to an advisor at one of the schools that offers the education. That way you get clarity on which basic course you should start on, how long it takes for you, and when you should start looking for an apprenticeship position.
