How study competence is converted to access and a good study start
What really distinguishes EUX from an ordinary vocational education is access to further education. But access is not automatic and open everywhere — it's worth understanding how it works so you can plan accordingly.
When you finish EUX you have general qualification for university. This means you meet the general access requirement for further education – the same as a student from a gymnasium. It is the broad key that formally qualifies you to apply.
Many higher educations require in addition to the general study competence certain subjects at certain levels — this is called specific entry requirements. A technical education can for example require mathematics at a certain level. Therefore it is important to check the requirements for the educations you dream about rather than assuming EUX automatically covers everything.
As an EUX student you meet further education with something many of your fellow students don't have: practical experience from a real workplace and a trade in your hands. On technical and practice-oriented apprenticeships it is a clear advantage because you already know the reality behind the theory.

Some of the value of EUX is that the choice is not final. You can finish a subject and go to work, continue studying immediately, or work for a few years and apply later. The journeyman's certificate doesn't disappear, and the qualification for study remains valid. It gives a rare freedom to change course if life or interests shift.
