Demand is rooted in a simple fact: the more our society fills with electronics, the more people need to be able to build, test and repair it. At the same time, many skilled workers are retiring in coming years, and not enough new ones are being trained to fill all the positions. That combination makes skilled electronics technicians a sought-after commodity.

§Three forces pulling trade forward

If you want to understand where the industry is heading, you can keep an eye on three major trends. Green transition is filling electronics into energy systems, electric vehicles and smart control. Automation and robotics demand people who can connect sensors, controllers and motors. And healthcare technology — medico — is growing as equipment becomes more advanced and more widespread.

Wind turbines solar cells battery storage and charging stations are filled with electronics that must measure control and communicate. This creates tasks for electronics technicians who both understand the technology and can troubleshoot when something in a large system acts up.

Automation

When production becomes more automatic, electronics becomes the backbone of it all. Here the electronics trade works closely with automation and control, and whoever can do both stands strong.

Hospitals and health care depend on equipment that must simply work. This sets high demands on quality and documentation — and makes sense for those who want to work with technology where it matters for people.
