Waste management and environmentally hazardous waste
Sorting in ten fractions, handling hazardous waste, and why it is part of property management
Managing waste disposal, including handling environmentally hazardous waste, and contributing to resource-saving, energy-optimised and environmentally conscious property management are among the key objectives of the main course. Waste management is a daily, concrete task that at the same time is related to the trade's broader responsibility for environment and resources.
§Ten fractions — sorting according to the rules
Since the modular wagon train scheme was introduced, specific truck combinations up to 25.25 m and up to 60 tonnes permitted total weight can travel on approved routes in Denmark. This is significantly more than the normal limits, and special requirements apply.

- 08Color is not just technique. Part of the craft is understanding how colors affect people and rooms — warm colors can feel inviting and active, cool colors calm and distant, and light colors can make a room feel larger. As a building painter you therefore often engage in dialog with the customer about what the room is used for and what mood the color should create.
§Color and aesthetics.
In a property, there is ongoing hazardous waste: residues of paint and chemicals, batteries, fluorescent tubes, spray cans and electronics. This must be handled chemically in a responsible manner — stored separately, labelled and inaccessible to unauthorised persons, and delivered to approved collection points. The safety data sheet for the individual product describes how it is handled and disposed of correctly, and it is your responsibility to follow it, not just throw it where it is easiest.
§Waste room and daily operations
As a property service technician you ensure that the waste room is set up so residents and users can easily sort correctly: clear signage enough capacity in the right fractions and order so waste does not pile up or attract pests. A well-functioning waste room is also a preventive measure against rats and other pests because it removes access to food.

§Environmental awareness as part of the profession
Good waste management is not just a legal requirement — it is a visible part of the environmentally conscious behaviour you as a property services technician should be able to guide residents about, along with energy consumption and resource saving in general. The better you lead by example, the easier it is to get residents on board.
