The journeyman's exam: how the final exam runs
What awaits when the training must be proven in practice
After years of school periods and practice, everything is compiled in one final exam: the journeyman exam for level 2 (bicycle mechanic or motorcycle mechanic) and a corresponding level exam for level 1 (moped mechanic). This is where you show that you can apply the competency goals to tangible, safe, and correct work on a real vehicle.
§Who is behind the exam
The education and test itself are set out in a regulation on vocational training for cycle and motorcycle mechanics which is administered by the professional committee for the area — Metalindustriens Uddannelsesudvalg under Industri-uddannelse. Assessment in the practical test is typically done by skuemastre appointed by the professional committee: experienced people from the industry representing both employer and employee sides often supplemented by a teacher or examiner from the school.
§What the test typically contains
The practical exam takes place as one or more real work tasks on a vehicle — for example troubleshooting, repair, adjustment and final function check. You are assessed on whether you work systematically, safely and professionally correctly, whether you can justify your choices, and whether the finished result meets the trade's standards. Safety-critical parts like brakes and steering typically weigh heavily in the assessment, precisely because they do in real working life.

§Grade scale
As with other Danish vocational apprenticeships the final exam is assessed using the 7-point scale. The precise weighting between different elements and any theoretical or written parts may vary slightly over time and between schools so always check the specific exam guidance at your own school in good time rather than relying on general descriptions.
§How you help a person who hears voices
The best preparation for the journeyman's test doesn't start the week before — it starts with you taking your practice seriously all the way through. Practice explaining out loud what you do and why while you work; ask your practice supervisor to ask you tough questions along the way; and go through a checklist yourself of the safety-critical points every time you finish a task. The routine you build in the daily work is exactly what carries you through the test.
