The education to bicycle and motorcycle mechanic has several specializations so you can direct your expertise toward the exact vehicles that interest you most. The basic principles in mechanics, adjustment, and troubleshooting are common, but the everyday work and customers differ from specialization to specialization.
§Bicycle mechanic
The bicycle mechanic works with everything from the city bike and children's bike through race and mountain bikes to the many e-bikes. The e-bike's advance has made the bicycle mechanic a more technical professional figure than before because motor battery and electronics are now part of the work alongside classical mechanics. It is a trade with great and stable demand not least in bicycle nation Denmark.
§Motorcycle mechanic
The motorcycle mechanic works with motorcycles ranging from simple models to advanced machines with electronics, injection and drive systems. This requires deep understanding of motors and electronics, and many specialize in particular brands or types. For many, the motorcycle is also a passion, which makes the trade particularly special for those who are passionate about it.
§Moped mechanic
The moped mechanic works with mopeds and light motorcycles. The moped has a particular popular place not least among young people and professionally shares much with the motorcycle on a small scale: engine drivetrain brakes and electrics. Rules for moped construction and speed must be followed — making illegal modifications has no place in a professional workshop.
