Bicycle and motorcycle mechanics work in many places — from small specialist shops to large chains and importer workshops. The trade is smaller than say car mechanic but it is specialized and skilled people are hard to find.

§What employers demand
Beyond the craft, employers will want a mechanic who can speak with customers, document their work and find faults systematically. Troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems is taking up more and more space because even a modern bicycle can have a motor, battery, display and sensors. The person who can both repair and understand electronics has an advantage.
§Season and everyday life
The bicycle industry is often busy in spring and summer when people get their bike fixed. Motorcycle workshops feel the same rhythm because many motorcycles hit the road when the weather is good. This means peak loads — and a mechanic who can keep the pace and quality up in the season is worth gold.
§The future
The green transition and growing interest in cycling and micromobility speak in favour of the trade. At the same time, new batteries, motors and digital systems place greater demands on further training. It is an industry where you never stop learning — and that is precisely what makes it interesting for someone who likes to keep up.
