The Danish Parliament has passed an act on ID cards on construction sites with a construction sum over DKK 100 million. Here are which sites are covered, what the card must show, who is responsible for it, and the rules on checking in and out. The date of entry into force has not yet been set.
Introduction
On the largest construction sites, everyone will soon have to wear an ID card. The purpose is to get an overview of who is working on the site. The rules are in Act no. 804 of 24 September 2026.
Which construction sites?
The act applies to construction projects with a construction sum of over DKK 100 million. The amount is excluding VAT, but including design, consultancy and financing during construction (§ 1).
What is on the card?
Everyone on site must wear an ID card (§ 3). The card must show at least (§ 5):
- 01Name.
- 02Photo.
- 03Nationality.
- 04Civil registration number or equivalent.
- 05Place of residence, if the employer provides housing.
- 06Job function.
- 07Mandatory training under the working environment legislation, e.g. asbestos course and scaffolding certificate.
People who do not work on the site or are only there briefly, e.g. with post and parcels, must wear a guest card and be entered in a guest book (§ 3).
