Template: plan for ongoing competence development
The journeyman's certificate is a foundation, not an end point
An apprenticeship is a foundation, not an end station. Use this template to make a concrete plan for how you keep your skills current and develop yourself through your career.
§Map your starting point
- 01Which watch types and brands do you have the most experience with today?
- 02Where do you have gaps — e.g. electronics, restoration, customer service or business operations?
- 03What courses, networks or certifications exist in the industry that are relevant to you?
§Sæt mål for 1, 3 og 5 år
| Time horizon | Focus area | Concrete step |
|---|---|---|
| 1 år | Strengthen a specific subject gap (e.g. electronics or waterproofing) | Take a course or follow an experienced colleague |
| 3 år | Broad experience with multiple brands and watch types | Seek tasks or internships that challenge you |
| 5 years | Find your direction — service, restoration or self-employment | Seek networks, mentors and any specialist courses |
§Find the right courses and forums
As a skilled person you have within the collective agreement framework the opportunity for continuous further education and some employers can seek compensation while you are on courses. Also keep an eye on industry networks and any courses from watch manufacturers or importers where you can expand your knowledge of specific calibres.
Regardless of whether you work in 2D or 3D, discipline around layers, naming and folder structure is crucial. A colleague — or yourself in six months — should be able to open the file and understand what belongs together. Agreed naming standards and layer structures are often specified in the project's CAD manual or IKT agreement.
