Checklist: is train preparation for you?

Ask yourself before you apply

Before you dive into an education, it is wise to feel out whether the trade suits you. Train preparation is physical, outdoors and full of responsibility — it suits some very well and others less well. Use the list below as an honest self-test.

§It speaks for you if you …

  • 01Thrives with working outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • 02Is it fine with changing working hours, also early and at night
  • 03Likes clear rules and understands why they exist
  • 04Is careful and can do things in the right order every time.
  • 05Will take real responsibility for something being safe

§Think again if you …

  • 01Prefers to sit inside and avoid the weather
  • 02Has difficulty with fixed routines and procedures
  • 03Do not like physical work and being on your feet

§Next step

Does it feel right? Then the next step is to investigate the entry requirements and start looking for an apprenticeship. After all, the apprenticeship is the key to getting all the way through.
