Checklist: brake check
Make sure that brakes work on the entire train
The brakes are the most important system. A train must never be reported ready if there is doubt about the brakes.
§Prepare
- 01All brake hoses connected between the vehicles
- 02The system filled and ready for testing
- 03The team knows that a brake check is underway
§Test
- 01Test the brakes on the entire train, not just at the front
- 02Check that brakes engage and release as they should
- 03Keep an eye on leaks
§Conclude
- 01Note and report any faults
- 02Only report ready if everything is in order
- 03If in doubt — do not signal ready.
