Checklist: electrical connection on location
From panel to distributor without surprises
Use the list each time you need to distribute power from a switchboard or generator on a location — it is not a substitute for an authorised electrician's work, but a supplement to your own part of the task.
§Before connection
- 01Confirm that the panel/generator is set up by or approved by an authorized electrician
- 02Calculate your total power consumption for lights, sound and video in advance
- 03Distribute heavy consumers across several groups instead of one
- 04Check that all cables and distribution boxes are certified and without visible damage
§Upon connection
- 01Test the test button on the HFI/HPFI relay before equipment is connected
- 02Use CEE equipment for robust outdoor connections
- 03Put knives down safely — never loose in a sink full of water
- 04Note which group each piece of equipment is on
§After test
When all equipment is connected and tested you go through the checklist one last time before production begins – and again when taking down so you know that everything is switched off and disconnected in the correct order.
