The journeyman's exam: how it's structured
What awaits you when you have to prove that you're skilled
After school periods and practice in a company, the journeyman exam awaits — the final exam that shows whether you have achieved the competencies required by the education. According to the ordinance on vocational training for theater, event, and AV technician, the exam spans two consecutive weeks within normal working hours.
§The three parts of the exam
- 01A written case-based assignment where you analyze and plan a solution
- 02A technical part where you perform or demonstrate a practical task
- 03A verbal exam where you explain and defend your choices
§Who assesses you
The exam is graded by an examiner and typically two master craftsmen appointed by the trade committee for the program. You don't get three separate grades for the three parts — the assessment is combined into one grade that expresses an overall evaluation of your performance throughout the course.

§After passing the journeyman exam you are a skilled surface treatment technician and receive a journeyman certificate as proof of education.
When you pass the journeyman exam the professional committee issues a journeyman certificate to you as documentation that you have achieved the competencies in the training as theatre event and av technician.
