Raw materials, machines and hygiene in the casing technician trade

Natural casing, equipment and clean facilities

The intestine technician profession is about transforming a natural product into a clean raw material for food production. It requires knowledge of the intestine itself, the machines, and the hygiene framework.

§Natural casing as raw material

The raw material is casings from especially pigs. As a natural product, casings vary in size and quality, and therefore sorting and assessment are an important part of the work. This requires that you can tell the difference and use each casing correctly.

§Machines and equipment

The intestine technician works with machines that make it possible to clean and process intestines at high speed, combined with manual work. Being able to operate the machines safely and efficiently is a central part of the profession.

§Hygiene as framework

Because the intestines end up in food, hygiene is a fundamental framework for all work. Clean premises, clean equipment and clean handling are what make the product approved for further use.

§Accounts with production

Beyond the work itself, the intestine technician learns to keep accounts of the production of intestines. This provides an overview of how much has been processed and is part of managing work at a workplace where many intestines pass through.

The raw material is simple, but the demands are high. It is the combination of handiwork, machines and hygiene that makes the trade.
