Checklist: digital workflow from scanning to milling
Step by step control that prevents errors before part is milled or printed
§Before design: control of the scanned file
- 01The scan file is free of holes noise and duplicate recordings in the critical area (margin contact points).
- 02The opposite alignment (opposite dental arch) and the bite have been scanned and are in agreement.

- 04The case is linked to the correct patient and order number before work begins.
§During CAD design
- 01The margin line is drawn precisely and checked from multiple angles.
- 02Contact points with adjacent teeth are adjusted — neither too tight nor too loose.
- 03Bite contact has been checked in the virtual articulator at both closure and movement.
- 04The thickness of the structure complies with the material's minimum requirements (especially important for ceramics).
- 05Shrinkage compensation is set correctly if the material requires it (e.g. zirconia).
§Before production (CAM)
- 01The right material and the right block/wheel is chosen for the task.
- 02Nesting is controlled so the item utilises the material sensibly without getting too close to the edge.
- 03Milling or print parameters (hole, layer thickness, supports) fit the material.
