Safety round: before during and after work

A fixed routine that protects your lungs skin eyes and back in the laboratory

Most work injuries do not occur from major accidents but from small, daily shortcuts that become habits. Use this fixed routine to make safety a reflex.

§Before you start

  • 01Check that ventilation works before turning on machines
  • 02Find the right protective equipment: respirator, goggles, gloves.
  • 03Læs sikkerhedsdatabladet, hvis du bruger et nyt kemikalie.
  • 04Set working height, chair and lighting so you sit well.

§While you work

  • 01Keep extraction close to the source when you grind and polish.
  • 02Always wear eye protection on rotating machines.
  • 03Take micro-breaks during monotonous, precise tasks.
  • 04Stop if you smell vapours clearly — then the protection is not good enough.

§When you are done.

  • 01Clean up and close chemicals properly.
  • 02Follow the laboratory's hygiene and disinfection routines.
  • 03Clean and dry hands - avoid getting acrylic and chemicals into your skin.
  • 04Report machine and exhaust errors immediately.

§The long track

Allergy to chemicals and strain on neck, back, and wrist build up over years. The one who takes care of themselves every day is still in the trade when the colleague who took shortcuts has had to stop.
