As a roofer you have a trade that is always in demand. Buildings must be kept tight and both new roofs repairs and maintenance provide jobs year-round.
§Many types of roofs
The roofer works with all types of roofs, both flat and sloped, and with various materials such as roofing felt, membranes, and plastics. This means daily work can range from small private jobs to large areas on commercial buildings.
§Specialized membranes
Beyond ordinary roofing, membranes are also used elsewhere where watertightness is critical. An example is membranes on structures such as bridges. This shows that the trade's knowledge of creating waterproof surfaces can be applied broadly.
§Ways forward and courses
within gross weight
| Direction | What it entails |
|---|---|
| Flat roofs | Tight membrane on flat and low-pitched roofs |
| Sloped roofs | Roofing where the slope drains water off |
| Repair and maintenance | Finding and repairing leaks on existing roofs |
| Special membranes | Tight membranes on other structures, e.g. bridges |
§A trade with steady demand
Roofs slide and need to be replaced, and new buildings need roofs. This gives the roofing trade steady demand. As a skilled roofer, you are an important part of keeping buildings dry and usable.
“As long as it rains in Denmark there's a need for someone who can lay a roof that holds.”
