How to systematically start looking for an apprenticeship agreement
In a small trade like stucco work there are not many companies, which means you need to be active and targeted when you look for an apprenticeship. Use this checklist as a plan you can work through.
§Before you search
- 01Get clear on where in the education you are and what you're missing to be able to start the main course
- 02Write a short, honest application and a CV that highlights your manual skills and interest in the profession
- 03Collect photos or examples of what you made during the basic course
§Find the companies
Because the trade is narrow, you must search broadly and be willing to contact companies directly - even if they have not posted a position.
- 01Search the official apprenticeship portals and your school
- 02Ask your school and your teachers if they know companies that take apprentices
- 03Contact stucco companies directly, also the small ones
- 04Use your network - journeymen and masters often know each other in a small trade
