Checklist: ready for casting
How to ensure everything is ready before the melt is poured
When the metal is liquid, there's no time to correct errors. Use this checklist before you start.
§The form
- 01Is the mould made correctly according to drawing and model?
- 02Is the mould dry and free of moisture?
- 03Has it been considered how the metal should fill the mould?
§Equipment and smelting.
- 01Is the oven installed with the correct distance from flammable material?
- 02Are lifting gear and tools ready and dry?
- 03Has the area been cleared so there is a clear path from the kiln to the mould?
§Safety
- 01Is the person wearing all correct personal protective equipment?
- 02Is everyone aware that casting is taking place?
- 03Is there a clear escape route if something goes wrong?
