Step by step from model to ready form
The sand mould is central in many casting tasks. Follow the steps here to get a mould that holds when the metal is poured in.
§Preparation
- 01Choose or create a model of the item
- 02Prepare the sand so it can be pressed and hold the shape
- 03Plan how the courses should be laid and overlap
§The actual form production
- 01Carefully press sand around the model
- 02Make sure that the mould can open without falling apart
- 03Remove the model and inspect the cavity for defects
§Before the clock goes back
- 01Check that the mould is dry
- 02Assemble the form parts correctly
- 03Check that inlet to metal is clear
