Protect your airways, your hands and yourself
Stonemasonry's greatest long-term risk is the fine stone dust, and the most acute is the heavy machinery and heavy items. Both require that you protect yourself every time.

- 02Use respiratory protection where necessary
- 03Ensure extraction and ventilation
- 04Keep the workplace free of accumulated dust
§Safe use of machinery
- 01Use eye protection against splinters and hearing protection against noise
- 02Keep guards in place and follow the machine's instructions
- 03Keep hands away from the blade and work concentrated
- 04Stop the machine completely before you adjust or clean
§Heavy items
- 01Use lifting aids and correct lifting technique
- 02Secure the item so it cannot tip or fall
- 03Use gloves against sharp edges
