Safety check before you start the machine
A fixed routine that prevents accidents
Accidents usually happen when something is done in a hurry or when a routine is skipped. A fixed check routine before each task makes safety a habit instead of an afterthought. Make it your own.
§Protective equipment in place

- 02Hearing protection with noisy machines
- 03Respiratory protection with correct filter if dust is generated
- 04Gloves, safety shoes and appropriate work clothes without loose parts that can be caught by the machine
§Machine and tools
- 01Are protective screens and guards in place?
- 02Is the grinding or cutting wheel whole and without cracks?
- 03Does extraction and any water cooling work?
- 04Are wires, hoses and items lying so you don't trip or get caught?
§When you are done.
Switch off and disassemble where necessary and tidy up. Dry dust swirls up and is inhaled — use a vacuum or water instead of sweeping. Put the tool away so it is ready — and safe — for next time.
