Understand your training agreement

What you sign — and what it gives you

The education agreement is the document that binds your training and your employer together. It is important because it establishes your terms throughout the course. Read it before you sign and ask if anything is unclear.

§What the agreement typically contains

  • 01Who the parties are — you as an apprentice and the company as the employer
  • 02What education and specialty the agreement applies to
  • 03Training start and end times
  • 04PLACEHOLDER_68
  • 05A possible trial period at the beginning of the programme

§You should be aware of this

Check that information is correct and agreement covers entire training you expect to complete. Be aware whether it is an agreement for the full course or only part of it. If in doubt about a point, get it explained before signing

§If something changes

If problems arise along the way — for example if the company closes or if the cooperation doesn't work — there are rules and help available. Talk to the school and your professional organization as soon as possible so your education doesn't stall.
