Work process: choose the right finish for the task
From cutting degree to polished surface
The choice of finish determines both appearance and function — and should be decided before you start processing, not along the way. Use this procedure to choose and perform the right finish.
§1. Clarify use and requirements
- 01Should the surface be used outdoors or indoors dry or wet?
- 02Is slip resistance more important than the shiny look, or vice versa?
- 03Which stone type is it — does it tolerate heat or water-based methods?
- 04What finish does the customer want — matte, rough, shiny or textured?
§2. Choose finish

§3. Test on a sample surface
- 01Test the finish on a smaller, insignificant piece of the same stone type if possible
- 02Assess the result in daylight both dry and wet
- 03Approve the sample with the customer before the entire item is processed
§4. Execute and check
- 01Use water or extraction to contain dust during grinding/sandblasting
- 02Use respiratory, eye and hearing protection as needed
- 03Work at the same pace and pressure throughout the entire surface so the result is uniform
- 04Check finished surface for uniformity before item leaves workshop
