§Before you go in

- 03Knock, greet and tell who you are if the citizen does not know you.
§During the visit.
- 01Ask how the resident is doing and listen to the answer.
- 02Let the citizen do what they can themselves — help to self-help.
- 03Help with personal care from dirty to clean.
- 04Offer breakfast and ensure the citizen gets fluid.
- 05Observe skin, appetite, mood, and general condition.
§Before you go
- 01Place important items within the citizen's reach (phone, water, alarm).
- 02Clean up, remove waste and dirty laundry correctly.
- 03Alcohol-rub hands before you leave home.
§After citizen contact
- 01Document what you have observed and done.
- 02Pass important observations on to the nurse immediately.
