Standard choice: welding method by task

A systematic choice based on material goods and workplace

§Clarify the material

  • 01What metal is it — unalloyed steel, stainless, or aluminum?
  • 02Which material group and is there a certificate or designation to go by?
  • 03Are there requirements in a welding procedure (WPS) that bind the method choice?

§Clarify goods and assembly

  • 01How thick is the material, and what type of joint are we talking about?
  • 02Should the seam carry load or contain pressure?
  • 03In which position should there be welding?

§Clarify finish and work location

  • 01Is the seam visible and are there requirements for appearance?
  • 02Does the work happen in a workshop or outdoors in wind?
  • 03Is production and assembly operator an authorised trade like electrician or plumber?
